The pattern says I should choose a finger configuration and sew them into position. As soon as I am feeling human I am going to run to the craft store and pick up some hooks & tabs to see if I can make them able to be positioned based on your mood. :) Super easy patter by @fayni_toys on #etsy @crochet

@cranky_tracy I was just cruising down the feed and saw this — maybe you could put some bendable wire in the fingers, then they could be shaped however you wanted? This product wasn't what I had in mind (I was thinking something thicker, maybe) but it might work

@cranky_tracy I would think a framework of craft wire, bent to give each frond support would work well. Put it through the cactus body like a hand in a glove. 16ga craft wire should do it, although that depends entirely upon the size of the project. If it is larger 12 -14 might be needed.
