@MartinStendel the Figure shows anomalies. I guess “normal” for continental midnight is well below 0°.

@gjcats no, just above freezing. This is 2m temperature, not 850 hPa.

@MartinStendel the “just above freezing” is daily mean temperature, 1991-2020, afaik. So not the 00z (close to minimum temperature) and not the 1979-2010 (weird interval🤔) which was colder. Furthermore, the 15° anomaly is inland, far off the BalticJ coast.
