Holy crap that’s bad, and that’s why I want nothing to do with TikTok, ever.

@thelinuxEXP whenever I mention that I want TikTok gone from everywhere people often laugh it off. There is 2 reasons I want it gone: 1. It is absolutely addictive in a worse way than any of Metas or Googles products (which is why they limit in China HEAVILY) so why aren’t we protecting our citizens? 2. WHY are all of those people willfully sharing their data with the CCP? I don’t get it, I really don’t and it drives me insane.
@hiiaminfi I absolutely don’t understand it either. It’s IMO a crap app, that’s even more geared towards making people stick to their phones as most other apps are, and the privacy risks are insane. I doubt it will survive for long though. It’s going to dilute itself trying to find monetization and to imitate competitors, and once creators realize the money they make goes down with each other creator on the platform, they’ll just stop using it.
@thelinuxEXP I heard they are already trying to become a YouTube competitor. I hope the EU kicks them out next year and I don’t care how many „creators“ that’s gonna hurt to be quite frank. If you based your career on the addictive dogshit app backed by the authoritarian government - you are kinda asking for setback. But that’s just my personal opinion.
