ok here's one of mine for #ThrowbackThursday - me at the first computer exhibition Llamasoft ever went to, the Commodore show at the Cunard Hotel in June 1982.

I didn't actually smoke at that time, the ashtray wasn't for my benefit, it was just there in case anybody happened to be wandering past with a fag on. May have even been standard issue when you rented a stand.

The past really was a different place.

What you can't see in that pic is that we were just down the road from the Commodore stand where they had Vic "Radar Rat Race" running continuously.

That tune. With the out of tune note just before it looped. For *days*.

@llamasoft_ox oh god! Radar Rat Race! We had that on the Vic. For a long time, we only had that and about two other games and my sister played it non stop.

@Dougrae it was a pretty good Rally X clone! And it always amused me that you could make your rat fart to throw off the pursuers.

That tune though...!

@llamasoft_ox Yeah, the tune still haunts me. But the farting was great. We had that and Alien Panic for the first month or so and then Dad went and bought us MetaGalactic Llamas Battle At The Edge Of Time. My first Llamasoft game.
@llamasoft_ox I'm sure the ashtray was a standard fixture! Ubiquitous back in the day.
@llamasoft_ox one of the best #retrocomputing image descriptions I’ve come across, nicely done
@llamasoft_ox less hair, fewer wrinkles, yep, it pans out, that’s the past alright …
@llamasoft_ox I met you at one of the computer shows in London, mid to late 80's, you were sitting on the ground a flock of people around you, wearing one of your iconic sweaters, pint of beer in each hand, and that is how I'll always remember you!
@llamasoft_ox For what it’s worth I *loved* that “rather bad Defender game” on the VIC20. Played it so much that I broke a QuickShot II joystick in the process.
@llamasoft_ox how strange, I was only thinking of Llamasoft yesterday, used to be local to me if I remember rightly.
