I'm beginning to realize that #sewing is primarily a cycle of rearranging small pieces of fabric, pinning, and waiting for the iron to heat up... and only a very small amount of time is actually spent stitching those pieces of fabric together.
@emery That’s when you eventually buy a good iron that has a timer so it stays on and heats up quickly! (Birthday wish list - the Oliso. Props up on little feet, quite counterintuitive.Oh, so good! Or a proper steam reservoir iron. )

@Wonderdog Mine stays on for a while - but it does have an auto shutoff. And my sewing seems to be like, "iron, pin, sew, play around on the internet for a while, turn the iron back on, watch the next bit of sewing tutorial..."

That Oliso looks really spiffy! Mine's just a regular ol' Shark.
