@daisy for the record we made it as far as the human trader giving chewie's dad the kaleidescope softcore porn (which he immediately started watching in the living room).

They definitely made choices in making that show.

@daisy I think what bugs me about it is thematic to a complaint I have about George Lucas as a film maker. He kept trying to make it into a kids movie franchise when Star Wars initial success was for being an exciting adventure for all ages...but the kiddy stuff always distracts him, and leads him to water down the plot in service of obnoxious physical comedy. AKA Jar Jar Syndrome.

@daisy Like #RiffTrax mused, they didn't realize there was enough pot in all of Modesto in 1979 to explain this thing.

Also, Luke's way overdone stage make up made him look ridiculous, also led me to wonder if some of this was filmed in front of an audience

@daisy You'll also get a Bea Arthur musical number, Art Carney being annoying, the Wookie grandpa watching some lady perform in a way that seems suggestive, Jefferson Starship, a horrible circus act, the cartoon that begat Boba Fett, and finally Carrie Fisher singing.

There is a reason this special was memory holed into the deepest, darkest places. lol
