Hide My Email is Apple’s best feature in a long time.
@paul It’s such a good feature! Been using it to mask my emails.
@paul absolutely this. Use it everywhere for every dang thing.
@paul I have over 100 hide my accounts.
@gh0sti @paul wow, I’ve never used it, but sounds reliable and convenient. Does Apple provide an UI to manage this list of emails?
@leandrofavarin @paul settings-appleid-icloud-hidemyemail. I use 1pass to sotre the accounts with passwords to for easy sign n in.
@leandrofavarin @paul 142 and counting addresses.
@gh0sti @leandrofavarin @paul This sounds like great news! When I used it, it was capped at 100 addresses, leading me to subscribe to SimpleLogin 😅
@paul 💯 Nowadays, I’m using it for everything.
@paul Need this for phone numbers too! Google voice just doesn't cut it
@paul yes! very good thing to have
@paul Sharing a Wifi password disagrees.
@beseku I’ve always just made a QR code for my guest network at home.
@AWTTech Ha, I don’t think QR codes pass the parent test in my house!
@paul it's very easy to find which fake email is for which account too and manage it as well
@paul I prefer to use Fastmail’s version, but that’s just because I’m not a huge fan of iCloud’s email. I can’t deny though, Apple’s version works so fluently.
@paul but I can’t reply to the sender with the pseudo email address…
@paul I agree! I just wish it was easier to use outside of Safari. I use Safari on iOS, but Firefox on Mac. If I could engage it with a Shortcut or AppleScript, that would be the dream.
@paul I use it so much, it is amazing
@paul It’s great, but I use Fastmail masked emails instead. Same thing, just integrated better into my email.
@paul yes! Haha until you need to call tech support for a product you registered using it and they ask for your email over the phone and you have to scramble to find it and spell it out…
@paul It just needs a better integration (in the iOS keyboard?) and I'd use it everywhere
@paul Agreed. Every time I use it I think fondly back on Spam Gourmet. RIP Josh. https://bbs.spamgourmet.com/viewtopic.php?t=1799

@paul totally. Sign with Apple very good too.
@paul I use it for literally every website. It does feel like the designers didn’t anticipate it being used regularly though.
@paul I love it too but my fediverse has radicalized me against anything that's locked into a big corporation - don't love that part!
@paul Anyway, https://sneakemail.com did it first, and if someone could just integrate that (or something similar) almost as seamlessly, I'd use it instead 100%. (That said, though I appreciate the corporate independence, there are drawbacks — I assume the owner can technically read emails that pass through it, and there's no real data portability. Surely we can do better still!)
Sneakemail

@paul indeed. Albeit the Fastmail + 1Password integration. It’s so much better and - wait for it… - integrated with each other ♥️.
@paul couldn’t agree more I love it
@paul I don’t know, paste 2FA from messages is pretty rad.

@paul agree 100%, sadly the interface is hidden inside iCloud and make it difficult to manage IDs.

Hide my email + passwords should be their own separate app

@paul it’s a great idea, and amazingly works perfectly every single time too (in my experience!). One of the first things Apple has shipped in a long time that ‘just works’.
@paul it really is! So easy to just kill mail aliases too and stop the spam.
@paul it’s pretty good, but I tend to use duck.com for newsletters, as it resolves url-based trackers as well.
@paul I use it all the time 😊
