I really do hope we eventually get quote tweets like feature and I will keep going on about it. I miss how useful it is to add context to things I want people to see.

Linking to a toot just plain sucks because of the whole Decentralized thing that you need browser plugins to not suck.

You can boost / reblog and then reply, sure, but it feels less useful and your comment not everyone will see and perhaps just scroll past and ignore what you’ve boosted.

People who complain about toxic uses: it's no different to someone talking crap about someone, then boosting that someone into their timeline for their followers to go after.

Quote toots / tweets aren't the problem. People are and moderation is a must.

@gamingonlinux if you wanna dogpile someone on here its trivially easy to screencap their post and then post that alongside their @ which is a virtually zero friction scenario for harassers

@eniko Yeah, exactly. I really *don't* see removing a feature that has a great many uses, because it's also used for hating. It doesn't really improve anything, because people can still screenshot, reply and more ways to be bastards.

Just allow people to turn off seeing them and / or have a privacy setting to not have your posts quoted. Kinda a solved problem easily.

@gamingonlinux Features don't stop bullying, moderation does
