I really hope that it won't become a "thing" where people create #Mastodon instances and when they get popular enough they get sold off.
One of the reasons I like Mastodon is the ability to swap instances. I doubt mastodon.social will sell their instance, but you never know.

While there was news of Pawoo being sold, there was also the great news that #Mozilla will try their hand at their own instance.
The fact that instance swapping is baked in makes Mastodon better to me.

@Angelic_Mew I'm kind of new to the workings of the fediverse, but is it easy to block an instance if it becomes bought out by undesirables?
@Fader209 As far as I know that would be up to the instance admins to block unwanted instances.
@Fader209 I see on the Tusky app I use that you can mute entire domains. However you can't add from the "Account Preferences" > "Hidden Domains". You have to use the option button on a users profile that is from the domain you want to mute.
@Angelic_Mew That sounds handy, was thinking of trying out Tusky too. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out with companies wanting to muscle in for a slice.
