On the subject of the #metaverse another interesting question was raised. Would we pay and like #ai generated #art as much as those actually done by a real artists? Much of the #ai art these days is amazing, but for me, art is art because a certain person made it.

@rodlux @academicchatter Without having a clear definition of "art", I agree. I have both digitally made art and handcrafted art in my home (no AI art, yet), and while I enjoy all of it, the more handmade it is, the more tactile it seems, the more I enjoy it. And this is coming from a technocrat.
@rodlux @academicchatter That being said, I could see myself buy AI art, if nothing else then for the novelty of it. But I don't think I'd be willing to pay as much for it as for human-made art. I guess it comes back to your definition of art being made art by the human that makes it. I need to be able to tell myself that I'm look into a human soul through the work of art.
@tgs @rodlux @academicchatter there’s an issue of should/would people pay for art that can’t be copyrighted (my understanding is copyright only applies to human made things).
@fable_cash @rodlux @academicchatter Might be, I'm no expert on copyright law. But people do already pay for things that aren't copyrighted, such as photo prints of photos that are out of copyright by now. But the price is lower, and I'd expect that to be the case here, too.
