at any time within the temporal continuum, no less. Honestly, I think one of the greatest damages this country ever did to itself was allowing the Confederazis to play the victim after they lost the civil war they started in hopes of continuing to own people like livestock. I am white, and pigs like Vicky Baggett provide ample evidence that there is NO such thing as a superior race.

Sorry, had that in my craw, needed to fish it out.

@Bullix @RiversideBryan @juddlegum I agree. I’m from the Deep South and what I saw there growing up was horrific.

@sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum

And the thing is, that I don't only blame the south. Because racism and segregation were EVERYWHERE in the early 20th century on back. For example, Colorado, my home state, was controlled politically by the F-ing KLAN for a period in the 1920s.

Behold, from the Canon City newspaper in colorado, 1926:

Sadly, more truth in this than I would prefer to have to acknowledge...about any state. I miss loving all the states without having this culture war shit turn us against each other forever. I blame Fux "News" for the modern wave of klanistans.
@Bullix @jag0325 @sitKonrad @[email protected] @juddlegum
Rupert Murdoch and other "Low Men" of the Republican party convinced Ronald Reagan to put an end to the Fairness Doctrine. That coupling led to the birth of Faux News and other Right Wing lie factories. Why did they do it? Becuse, targeting humanity's baser instincts of fear, anger and hate not only generates wealth, it wins elections ... for a while.
@GeoffBC @jag0325 @sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
yep. And Reagan was no stranger to that kinda crap anyway. I mean, he closed the state mental health system in the largest state in the union.
@Bullix @jag0325 @sitKonrad @[email protected] @juddlegum
And he was one who began the process of deregulation in America and started us down the road of the rich getting richer while the poor get f***ed. It was "The Great Communicator" who convinced a large segment of America that the organizations who fought bloody battles to get us an 8 hour day, a forty hour week, holiday pay, overtime, medical insurance and more, were the biggest problem in America not the fat cats on Wall Street.
@Bullix @jag0325 @sitKonrad @[email protected] @juddlegum
He also managed to turn the phrase, "piss on you" into a more acceptable "trickle down economics". Rotten Ronnie Reagan was my choice for worst President in American history until Drumph came along; and even then he only lost by the thinnest of margins.
@Agora @sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
Yeah. This image is, honestly, one of my more favorite historical images, in spite of the nazis in it, because of the INSANE juxtaposition of a violent terrorist group riding a fucking ferris wheel lol
@Bullix @sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum Colorado has recovered somewhat. The gay Gov has been reelected and they put a right to have an abortion or not in the constitution. Denver's Mayor Hancock is a black man reelected for several terms now. There's still creepy places, Canon City, CO Springs, Weld and Douglas County, some western slope rural among them. And all children get free school lunch.
@RocketJCat1 @sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
Indeed. Colorado has grown up a lot since I left in 2008. And I grew up there. I have vague memories of the debate around Amendment 2, which got Colorado dubbed The Hate State in the 90s.
@RocketJCat1 @sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
What's fun to think about is that when I was a kid, one of our senators was Ben Nighthorse Campbell. A native american.

@sitKonrad @Bullix @RiversideBryan @juddlegum

if only it was contained in the deep south... i see the same crap in California Oregon, NYC, Philly, Chicago, and all over Europe...., sadly, growing up in the south, i thought we owned the evil, but as i grew and traveled and met more white people, its global...

@AnthonyUplandpoetWatkins @sitKonrad @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
No place holds a patent on evil. Well, maybe Russia. But otherwise, yeah. Agreed. Plenty of racism in the north. Example? The busing riots in Boston's Southie...in the 70s.
@Bullix
Yeah- the 'daughters of the confederacy' were extremely successful propagandists. Their lost cause textbooks are a major reason there are so many vickies still out there.
@[email protected] @juddlegum
@Bullix
As a sidenote- if you ever feel like arguing with someone who believes the "Civil War was about states' rights" bullsh!t. Don't bother, they've already been brainwashed. Just politely ask them to read the Articles of Secession of whatever state they're from. If that doesn't clarify things for them, nothing you say will.

@Incognitim @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
Not gonna lie, more than one of my history teachers in middle school and high school had fallen for that fiction about the war really being about 10th amendment supremacy. And, like you correctly stated, they fought for a states' right to keep owning human beings as livestock/sexual assault fodder. There was a time in childhood where I foolishly bought that line of bullshit. But, again, I was a child. The adults shouldve known better lol.
@Bullix
> adults should know better
That was about US' Civil War, but it should apply to the vile handling of the indigenous and the black too. Especially politicians. Except they would have to consider reparations if they acknowledged knowing better.
@Incognitim @RiversideBryan @juddlegum
@Bullix @RiversideBryan @juddlegum 💯x💯^💯 agree!
Also, send a follow request. I'm also trying to reclaim my life after caregiving. Unfortunately my journey is hampered by being disabled.
@Love_or_Fear @RiversideBryan @juddlegum Hugs. You're not alone, I've been there. And, while I don't have a physical disability, the abusive nature of my caregiving experience has very much exacerbated my social malfunctions. ADHD, anxiety, imposter syndrome, a general feeling of being as useful as a human appendix, etc.
