We should be regulating the clock app and many others for the same reason China does, they know it rots our brains.
That being said, the US plans to ban it have nothing to do with that or the excellent content this person produced, it has to do with using xenophobia and culture wars to distract the people from bigger problems...like those raised in this excellent video :)
My point is that banning that app is just an another extension of those xenophobic tendencies you described. Its also about "China bad" as a distraction from the real issues.
@phillip this is cool and all, but the objective basis behind "white people have no culture" is that they steal everything.
That any "culture" they have is backward, undesirable, and/or not compatible with life & its reproduction (the genociding, not bathing, the in*est, etc).
Colonized people understand that the basis of the system is "The colonizer kills what they can't steal, and steals the rest for their own benefit" Which is a decent analysis.
@phillip telling people what to do without examining why people do it is exactly what OP said was bad in anthropology.
And as an aside anthropology, and sociology are helpful to a certain extent but without being informed by dialectical & historical materialism ppl often get to contradictory nonsense.
