‘Sometimes’.
I like that word. It’s very versatile and kinda fits just right, in a lot of situations.
It’s not permanent. Leaves lots of room for option, variety…the unexpected.
I also like it because it’s a good way to convey that things can change.
And they will.
In so many situations, we’re almost conditioned to want to say ‘this. This is how you’re supposed to handle this situation’
It’s safe. Comforting. Like, if all else falls apart, I know how to handle this one thing.
Here’s the thing that sucks: those times are limited in life.
‘Sometimes’ accounts for SO much more of our lives than the things we know we can rely on, so that constant change can really try us.
I both adore and LOATHE change, in that it seems just as I’m learning the navigation of something, *bam*.
Change.
I’ve since learned to embrace it, especially since coming out, because hey- nearly EVERYTHING has changed, in a big way, for me.
With 2022 coming to a close, I cannot believe the whirlwind that it’s been. But if any year has assured me change is inevitable, it’s this one.
You’ve done that, right? Gone through your phone, started at January photos and just moved forward, noting key memories along the way?
If I were writing a book about this year, I think I’d need these photos, along with witnesses, to get people to believe how nuts it’s been.
But through it all- the highs, the bitter lows- one thing has remained true; every single solitary time I’ve fallen into complacency, ‘sometimes’ has come back to remind me of how quickly things can change.
Painfully, beautifully and breathtakingly.

Friends, this has been such a challenging one.
But you’ve been there, and I’m thankful for that.
So thank you for the ‘sometimes’ you’ve seen me through this year.
