yarrrivOne thing that Mastodon seems a bit confused about is what, exactly, is the server a metaphor for. Is it a just a place to park your account (like gmail) or is it a part of you identity and what you're talking about (like a subreddit)?

@austinfound right, I think the latter metaphor works for journalists or politicians, e.g. the folks on journa.host, but for most people the former seems more apt. But then what's the purpose of the "Local" tab?
@yarrriv that’s probably more useful for smaller servers that are organized around a particular affinity group? Makes less sense for massive servers because that tab is impossible to follow it moves so quickly lol
