When he said he found that troubling and did not think white supremacy was part of God’s kingdom, the council president looked straight at him and said, “I disagree.”

Christians Must Publicly Denounce Christian Nationalism

A former pastor explains why more churchgoers must condemn the bigotry of Donald Trump and his supporters in order to save democracy.

@TexasObserver
"Christian Nationalism" is an oxymoron. An christian can not be an nationalist and an nationalist not an christian. An Person born in Jamaica is no different from an Person in the US. "Christian Nationalists" often forget the good samatarian which is the base for our asylum laws and principles. Especially since the "western" countries are the causes people flee from their countries in hope to have an better life.
@TexasObserver Interesting article. I grew up in Texas and went to high school in Humble. Many of my classmates were/are Southern Baptists and I have seen their politics move farther and farther right through their churches. Their rhetoric is scary, toxic, and divisive. It's one of the reasons I won't return to Texas.
@TexasObserver Is Wendi Gordon on a non-bird social media platform? Her article seemed to only indicate that affiliation. I know your organization is hosting your own instance. I’m trying hard to find other progressive Christians like her and those she mentions in her article.
@TexasObserver He’s never read a Bible in his life if he can make a statement like that!
@TexasObserver why is the news publication making it so I have to request to follow you? seems a little bit counter intuitive to most models involving journalists. Most journalists want information to be spread so that seems a little bit strange.
@TexasObserver They won't. There isn't enough real Christians left. They're all christo fascists.
@Nanakim I totally understand how you feel. One thing that's a privilege about working with TXO is getting to interact with some of the progressive Christians who do exist here, and help to elevate their voices over the very loud ones of the Christofascists—Kit
@TexasObserver Progressive Christians are IMHO the ones who follow most closely what Jesus commanded them. I moved away from religion years ago bc I was sick of the hypocrisy. But it seems there may be hope yet for those that truly follow their beliefs, and don't just cherry pick to fit their narrow world view.
