Introducing Spill, a Twitter alternative created by former employees

Alphonzo "Phonz" Terrell and DeVaris Brown, former employees of Twitter, announced the Spill waitlist Friday and quickly received 20,000 sign ups.

""It's not a web3 thing," Terrell told TechCrunch. "But the use of blockchain is for both crediting creators and setting up a model for us to compensate them automatically. If they have a spill that goes viral and we monetize it, it's really effective.""

This sounds pretty awesome, finally seeing whats hopefully a realistic use of a blockchain. IMHO from working in the cryptocurrency space the whole token/ponzi-scheme aspect was a distraction, so glad to see people having the opportunity to use this tech in hopefully more positive ways.

@pete_wright I'm just burnt on the whole blockchain thing.

I won't support it, but I'm willing to come around on it if someone shows something responsible.

I've yet to see it, though.

@majorlinux

I hear you for sure.

i think i'm probably more excited about the aspect of a platform that more transparently shares profits with creators. hopefully they don't go down the nft/token rabbit hole - but rather leverage a public ledger to make transparent sharing possible.
