The NYTimes reports that New York Republican Congressman George Santos' resume is a pack of lies...

I can't understand why public figures lie about their past. Eventually, someone is going to check the claims and discover the lies.

I also don't understand how the press can be so slow in confirming candidate's claims. Why didn't the NYTimes write their story *before* Santos was elected? @jayrosen_nyu @jeffjarvis @online-news
