Officially the coldest temp I’ve ever been in.
@godlessmom the coldest temp I've ever been in was in my ex-wife's heart. LOL
@godlessmom I was hoping the pagan destination for the dead would be a wee bit balmier.
@wayofthewitch in summer it actually hits 42, 43 Celsius some days. It’s brutal.

@godlessmom I think -20 was a nice warm winter day where I grew up in Alberta.

Especially if there wasn't a wind.

@godlessmom coldest I've been in is -40F. I think that's roughly where Celsius and Fahrenheit match temps.
@godlessmom Gabriola got 7 inches in an hour.
@BrentTyson it’s so cold here that the snow is just dust and accumulates in drifts.
@godlessmom -24C in Edmonton right now. Could be colder but still sucks.
@BrentTyson my puppy is bored out of her mind. We took her out but it lasted a couple of minutes!
@godlessmom We have a town down here in Central Florida called Winter Park. It somehow seems more honest than a Canadian Summerland.
@Fernhead it gets up to 110 here in the summer. Don’t believe everything you’ve heard about Canada.
@godlessmom I do believe everything I read aboot Canada. It’s the backup option for every thinking US citizen since 1960.

@montymo @godlessmom what’s the temperature of a Tauntaun?

Luke warm.

@Sealofdisapproval @godlessmom

“Tauntauns' thick skin helped them survive the icy conditions on the planet Hoth that few other creatures could.[8] Sure-footed and furry, the tauntauns were well adapted to the daytime temperature on Hoth, although they could not handle the chilling extremes of the night, which often reached below −60°C. “

Tauntaun

Tauntauns (pronounced /ˈtɔːn-tɔːn/) were a species of semi-sentient reptomammals native to the snowy plains of Hoth. They were used by members of the Rebel Alliance after they domesticated some of them when they built their new headquarters on Hoth. Jabba Desilijic Tiure kept a stuffed tauntaun head in his palace beside Han Solo, who was at the time frozen in carbonite. Tauntauns' thick skin helped them survive the icy conditions on the planet Hoth that few other creatures could. Sure-footed and

@godlessmom at least you get to to enjoy the irony of -20 degrees in Summerland.
@godlessmom The coldest I've experienced was about -18 to -20 °C (~ -4 to 0 °F).
I liked it, actually. Lots of snow that didn't melt right away, dry air, I got to wear that super warm jacket that makes me melt at warmer temperatures.
@godlessmom Summerland and -20 degrees don‘t go that well together… yesterday I ran my half marathon through ten centimeters of snow at -8 degrees (Celsius) and a *very* chilly wind. 🥶

@godlessmom

It's the snowfall that would cause me the most concern. I would hate to have to clear out my driveway.

It's minus 38 here right now (-48_)with the wind. Up the road it's -46 with -51 windchill. But at least I won't have to shovel it when it's done.

@godlessmom it’s so cold out there! I haven’t been out today yet but last night everything was a sheet of ice here in Vancouver. It’s going to be a complete mess with tonight’s snow on top of it.
@godlessmom Our forecast for this week includes a a low of -21F on Wed and -10/-19F on Thursday. Those days are going to be a time to get comfortable in the warm house!
@godlessmom eek - I’ve been in that a couple of times here in Chicago (1994, 1985). It hurts to breathe and icicles form in your eyelashes. Not fun. Stay indoors and stay safe!
@godlessmom Every Canadian should live in Edmonton for at last a year (did for 30+ years), only then can you move to BC so -20 doesn’t seem all that bad.
@godlessmom it’s not really winter until the snow squeaks when you walk on it.
@wincing or you have to blow dry your hair before you go out. Learned that the hard way after I moved here from Vancity.
