Never on the bird site, but when I heard about Mastodon I thought it would be for old fossils like me, so I joined. Happy to be here as it is a very #Canadian space, warm and friendly. After doing some thinking turns out I’m a devout #atheist. This got me thinking about how churches are subsidized in #Canada, so now I’m going to do something about it. Getting back into print making this fall, the studio is almost finished, look for an anti-dogma series when the studio is up and running.

Gord made it to Calgary, ahead of schedule!

The #ProselytizingForPlushtodons prize for May now gets to join me for summer adventures in the #yyc area.

The June prize is still up for grabs. All you have to do is invite your elected representatives here, and report in the first week of July.

British Columbians are subsidizing the province’s forest companies to the tune of tens of millions of dollars each year under a government program that defrays the cost of shipping logs from remote forests to distant mills. Ben Parfitt reports. #bcpoli

Why is it OK to post about the reflecting pool algae when there are far worse problems in the world?

1. Because it's become a symbolic rallying point for focusing attention on Trump's fecklessness; it's about more than an algae bloom.

2. Because it's OK for people to post about whatever they're going to post about, and there's simply nothing you can do to stop it. You'll just look like a humorless scold if you try.

Tonight's silly bureaucracy project is to try to get my CV from 24 pages (yikes) to 2 pages. (I assume using a teeny font would not make Those Who Read CVs For Important Things very happy)

(side note: what's a CV? It's a resume, but with a fancy latin name that's abbreviated, because ✨ academia ✨

my goodness I sound grumpy...)

Anyway, just for the record, unlike the major news dailies of old, I do not have regular editorial meetings where all my editors weigh in to decide which topics are newsworthy enough to warrant posts. I just post whatever I'm thinking about and feel the urge to share.

I apologize for any confusion in this matter.

Not a single Canadian media outlet is covering this. It is inexcusable. The gaslighting defence that a Prime Minister β€œdidn’t know” or β€œdidn’t see” when no one gains access that is not pre screened is ridiculous. There was literally a West Wing episode about this. Carney should apologize.

What #Ukraine is doing in #Crimea now is beyond incredible. They have systemically hit refineries and fuel transport infrastructure.

They have hit all the bridges entering Crimea from Southern Ukraine. They have hit all the ferries transporting goods in and out of Crimea.

And today they hit the air defences that protect the Kerch Bridge.

They are making Crimea intenable for the Russians, and isolating Russian Units in Occupied Ukraine.
