I got locked out of my Mastodon account on desktop. Not recognizing saved password and so I opted for changing password, but the email is taking forever to come.

Anyone have any tips? I’m using phone app now

Thanks for all the help. i got in, just by typing mstdn.social into my browser, no password needed. Thanks to @DrPsyBuffy !!
@msignorile @DrPsyBuffy Whew! She's slaying vampires and passwords now. 😅
@msignorile When I was signing up it took almost 12 hours for the email to show up. Getting impatient and telling it to resend didn't help.
@gghocket thanks — at least i know I’mnot alone. It’s said it would come in a “few minutes.” Also not sure why it didn’t recognize password saved in Dashlane from the beginning
@msignorile So, I was making the big mistake of using the wrong instance that I am on…kept accidentally putting in mastodon.social when I ended up going with mastodon.online…doh! 🤨
@KateSalwa thanks. seems I’m in the right instance
@msignorile The queues and servers are likely VERY backed up right now. Give it some time. There's a huge crush of new users and activity, and your reset email is likely backed up. It'll get to you eventually.
@msignorile The server here on #mstdnsocial has been having issues so that's probably what caused your initial problem. So it may take awhile to get that password reset email. Whatever you do, don't log out on your iPhone app. 😬
@donmelton right — I even tried to go to account settings on the app, but then it asked me to log in. Not going there!
@msignorile Yikes! Yeah, stay away from that. 😬
@msignorile suspect the intensified migration may be slowing servers up. Just saw someone post that one server was just upgraded and they got their 700k backlog down to 200k. Think Mastodon is going through some paces.
@msignorile same thing happened to me and it was because I was looking up mastodon.social instead of mstdn.social
@DrPsyBuffy omg, you are a genius! I just typed that I’m my browser and I’m in!
@msignorile Patience is the key. Right now every instance is being swamped by traffic of new and old users alike.
Given how there's no central 'verification' method right, one proposal has been making Mastodon servers on your company servers, which would limit who could make accounts there. That would also mean less server load, and limit these issues.
Might be worth asking for a SiriusXM Mastodon server to be spun up.
@msignorile think Twitter must be hemorrhaging users.
@lohalza Yes, the last poll didn't go well
@msignorile I’m having the exact same problem. I’m waiting to just try it again later
