~ $46,931 cost of fuel.
~ 85 tons of CO2 emissions.
@elonjet If global warming is real then why nobody's doing anything about this?😂
@josephtesfaye @elonjet Because billionaires own the world. They get to do anything they want consequence free while dumping the aftermath of their actions onto us. We're peasants.
@josephtesfaye @elonjet you're really a climate change denialist?
@elonjet so much for his claim of wanting to protect the environment 🤨
@elonjet So Elon spent more than most of us make in a year, on jet fuel alone for a trip to Qatar? Cool.
@elonjet es hipnótico seguir a space karen , solo importa porque al tarado de elon le molesta igual
@elonjet So he should fly commercially like us peasants instead of privately like a lord.
@elonjet That’s the annual CO2 consumption of eleven Germans.
@elonjet I wonder how many Tesla’s he has to sell to offset his flight to and from the World Cup final.

@DAshford @elonjet

Not sure anyone wants to buy Teslas anymore: https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/tsla

@elonjet save the planet buy a Tesla 😂😂
@elonjet he could use a more efficient vehicle easily. Heck, get a Beechcraft Starship! (It's in the name even) Flies 5x as long on the same fuel load.
@downix @elonjet 1/4th the range though. Not sure you can cross the Atlantic on that.
@elonjet No mention of him being at the World Cup final.

@elonjet That one trip generated as much CO2 as an average car produces in an 18-year lifetime. One Way.
@elonjet “Shocking how the wealthy thoughtlessly exploit our resources for their own personal benefit.” Said no one, ever.
@elonjet ..and I bet he doesn't even understand the Offside rule
@nic @elonjet ok, but nobody that doesn't follow soccer does
@OberynsFace There’s lots of games I don’t understand, but I don’t take my private jet halfway round the planet to pretend to watch them
@elonjet how is this acceptable in this time and circumstance.
@elonjet I think it’s precisely these kinds of stats are why he’s so angry about your account.
@elonjet to watch a soccer match Elon added as much CO2 to the atmosphere as an average ICE car driver would do in almost 40 years.
@elonjet jeez. I spend 5000 to 10000$ a year on fuel for a business van. More than blew it in one flight for a soccer shoot out.
@elonjet
Is there an mistake:
How can 23,844 kg of jet fuel become 85 tons of CO2 emissions? 23,85toms to 85tons?
Anyway a mega pollution just to watch 20 men running after a ball and don‘t want it.

@StefanRower @elonjet

In complete combustion, each carbon atom combines with two oxygen atoms from the air to make CO2. So the weight of the Oxygen needs to be added.

@FuckElon @elonjet
Ah, yeah! That was late bed time mind fuck, yesterday!
@StefanRower @elonjet stoichometry! Oxygen has more mass than carbon
@u3b3rg33k @elonjet
Ah, yeah! That was late bed time mind fuck, yesterday!
@elonjet just curious: what is the basis for calculating co2 emissions? cause how can turn 24k jet fuel turn into 85k co2? i mean there will be some tire wear, maintenance, aircraft hangar stuff happening - but more than 3x than only jet fuel? please clarify. 🙏
@medienvirus @elonjet So I do not know the exact calculations, but you can tell from the very formula C O 2 that in this gas every molecule is one atom of carbon picking up and attaching to two atoms of oxygen from the air. Tripled mass thus sounds roughly correct.
@elonjet Welcome, Elon Musk's Jet! I didn't know you existed on Twitter (apologies!) but I'll certainly follow you on Mastadon and keep a closer eye on that critter's CO2 emissions. 😉 👍
@elonjet Nearly $50K in fiel alone? Wow 😮
@elonjet The environmental cost of extreme unrestricted privilege.
@elonjet The carbon tax should be added to the cost of the fuel when it is purchased. #CarbonTax #CO2 #CO2Emissions
@elonjet the sheer amount of CO2 for this trip is disgusting
@elonjet how is the c0² calculated?
Not having a go just interested how 35mt of fuel becomes 85mt of co²
@elonjet
Just did some Googling and holy fuck!
Fuel density is 0.8 so 35lt becomes 25-26mt of fuel and the emissions factor ranges from 3.1 - 3.5 depending on fuel grade. So 85mt of co² is about bob on. 💩
@Dunk @elonjet In summary, the answer is chemistry.
Jet fuel is a hydrocarbon with between 5 and 16 carbon atoms (C) per molecule. When this is burnt, each atom combines with 2 oxygen atoms (O) from the air to produce CO2.
IRL the calculation is not this simple because of side products and incomplete combustion, but e.g:
C5H12 + 8O2 -> 5CO2 +6H2O
For every one mole of C5H12 (approx 74g), 5 moles of CO2 are emitted (approx 220g) because of stoichiometry.
Ban Private Jets

We know who’s responsible for the climate crisis: rich people. Nowhere is this clearer than in aviation, with billionaires’ private jets ravaging the planet. We need to ban them now.
