I'm a cis guy, and I want to write a #transmasc appreciation post, because I've learned a lot from listening to trans masc people.

Navigating masculinity is hard, in ways I never would have thought to articulate, if it weren't for the trans men and nonbinary people exploring and defining their own masculinities.

You guys have shown how to love - others and yourselves - how to be tender, how to show courage, how strength and vulnerability aren't opposites but are instead connected. You've made visible ideas that our society tries really, really hard to keep invisible.

And a lot of you are snappy dressers, too. And why are you all so handsome?

Anyway, just wanted to say I love and appreciate you #transmasculine folks out there. We need you in the world. My world is made better having you in it.

@quietmarc

I'm new to Mastodon, from the birdsite, and I'm EXTREMELY interested and excited to see someone posting something like this. There's so much about masculinity as it's transmitted and imposed that I've long had misgivings and discomfort about, but the last few years have kind of crystalized a lot of why, and I do hope to be able to learn from trans masc (and more trans people, in general) in part because I do think queer people (and trans people especially) go through a reckoning with gender cis people generally never do.

ANYWAY. Thanks for the post, and this is something I wrote a little while ago. I don't post it just to promote my Patreon (everything on it will always be available free), more to just kind of throw up a flag, because I think more cis men need to have these conversations with each other.
