Many of us did IRC and BBS. We were on the Internet when you actually had to understand a bit about how the Internet worked to use the Internet.

Mastodon/the Fediverse decentalization looks familiar to us. It doesn't surprise me at all that we just kind of get it.

that's an interesting take, I never woulda considered it. I guess what surprises me is enough gen x still give enough of a shit about social media to make such a showing, and that not more millennials do. wonder what'll make Z move and when, if they ever do
