So now both my less than 18 month old Xbox controllers have died, same fault the trigger pad has clearly degraded and it’s sticking all the time making game play impossible. Microsoft really do make some absolute shit.
@NeilEvansRocks Had a similar sounding switch problem with my #Logitech #M570 trackall. A bit of googling, 2x £1 switches and a couple of hours with the soldering iron sorted me problem. Replaced the cheap switches with drop in superior alternatives.
@ilneill I don’t even think it’s a switch, it’s almost certainly a sticky bumper sticker that’s degraded too fast. Just such a pain in the ass to open up. Considering putting the whole damn system in the trash. Sick of it 😑
@NeilEvansRocks Well, I had some incentive and not much left to lose. The #M570 is a fantastic trackball and the cheap nasty switches used by #Logitech had some form. Loads of YouTube videos to help me with the open gadget surgery.
@ilneill I’ve been looking on Reddit and YouTube it seems like a super common problem (the kind so common that it really sounds like it should be a recall) -
@NeilEvansRocks A recall? Don't hold your breath waiting for that! Usually they are reserved for safety issues, and often only when there is some "pressure" from an authority.
@ilneill oh I’m not holding my breath. Particularly from Microsoft. The Xbox has been plagued by bad build quality and poor performance since the early days they always palm repairs off onto the consumer
