Ok I'm officially sick of windows pulling shit like reinstalling edge and nagging me to buy office every update.

I need recommendations for a linux distro with the following features*
- easy for newcomers
- easy to run Windows software
- good perf/support for games (incl windows ones)
- decent community in case i have questions

*I'm asking for recommendations based on my listed needs. Don't recommend me one just because it's your favorite.

@cratesmith
Based strictly on the fact that it's what the #SteamDeck runs, and not my personal experience with it, I suggest #ArchLinux if your priority is compatibility with Windows applications- particularly games.

If the priority is on ease of use for newcomers though, Pop!OS and Mint Linux are highly regarded, as is (to a lesser extent recently) Ubuntu Linux.

@DopeGhoti Hmm. The steamdeck being a testcase is a good point.

I might try a few of these in a VM and see how I go

@cratesmith
VM-based testing is something I highly recommend.

And if you're comfortable with VMs, after you migrate to Linux you can also always flip the script and when you really need Windows for something, fire it up in #VirtualBox (or #KVM, or #Docker, or...)
