#Kolektiva

@jasonwyckoff well there are moderation policies and code of conduct at https://kolektiva.social/about That's pretty
Here's a snippet of things not to post:
Propaganda from politicians or political parties that seek to win elections
Propaganda from the USSR, CCP, or DPRK
Glorification of nation states and/or militarism
Messages promoting capitalism or meritocracy
Messages promoting or encouraging pseudoscience, conspiracism, or breaks with reality
Targeted harassment (i.e. evading blocks, repeated hostile replies, or posts intended to instigate brigading/dogpiling against a user or another instance), even for righteous reasons
Religious proselytizing/recruitment
@admin @jasonwyckoff I joined seeking to migrate from twitter to somewhere with anti-fascism baked in, and this seemed the only place that fit.
I dunno about screening, but I think an automated DM from @admin to new accounts would go a long way. Just a welcome and here's what you should know. I'm still unused to mastodon, and I hadn't really read the code of conduct before, but it's pretty epic as-is.
@sleepfreeparent @jasonwyckoff hey thanks for this! The crew really like the idea of a welcome bot and found one already made!
@admin @sleepfreeparent @jasonwyckoff
I think an admin welcome message is a great idea.
I joined last year because a mutual on the bird site who got suspended periodically had a backup account here, and the instance name sounded good. I didn't pay much attention to whatever I clicked through signing up and had no clue I should, say, read the about page. But luck was with me and it turned out to be a great fit.
I would not like to see registration get too restrictive, because while I'm an anarcha-something-or-other myself, I'm very interested in the historical and ongoing conflict between the various anarchist, socialist and communist tendencies, and if there may be a new and better synthesis to be found somewhere amongst them.
