End of semester dilemma:

Student plagiarizes in my class. I dock him grade and ask him to come see me about it. He doesn't, so I don't have the opportunity to read him the riot act. I also don't report him.

Now, his final paper also has plagiarized sections. Should I report it? Email him first? I feel like he would just ignore me again.

PS He's not really doing the work for this class either.

@ProfSnarky With that kind of attitude, I'd report him. He probably won't care anyway.

@MajorBedhead I think he will care, I just wonder if he'll be blindsided. I don't have the impression he's looked at any of the feedback I've left for him.

@ProfSnarky That's on him, though. Learning from feedback is kind of a skill kids need to learn, sooner rather than later, but if he's not following thru, he needs to learn that it has consequences. Will it get him kicked out of school?

@MajorBedhead I doubt very much that it would lead to expulsion. I would eat my hat, honestly.
