Forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but how on Earth are we supposed to believe we “can’t afford” paid family leave, universal pre-K, or climate action when our politicians are willing to pass an $858 billion annual defense budget without batting an eye?

@rbreich We can't afford anything other than bonuses for all of management.
@Az_ @rbreich Hey, buddy, you're being funny and correct at the same time, which is illegal by the books 😂
@rbreich The unfortunate part of this is that most voters are unable or unwilling to see this hypocrisy. This is especially true of Republican voters.
@rbreich And when many other countries already have them.
@rbreich @kevincollier Musk led mobs against people like Fauci, Roth and Paul Pelosi. He sicced mobs on innocent trans gendered people icymi. Zero sympathy for the journalists and academics who ignored all those bright lines just to get ego strokes. It’s a far right megaphone. That’s all it is now.

@rbreich Forgive me for sounding like a broken record - but why are you still primarily posting on Twitter, and simply mirroring your tweets here?

I'm unfollowing you, for now.

@rbreich At the risk of being given the Julian Assange treatment for thinking a, '🥄's a 🥄'. 'The King's of War' pull the strings of so signified, 'Democrates' & 'Republicans' = 'Tweedle.D. + 'Tweedle'+ .D. 'War what's it 'Good for'? Making 'The Kings of War' Billionaire, 'Trillionairs' Zillionaires & so it goes.
@rbreich I keep having hope for my country and it keeps being dashed. As long as we think of ourselves as the American Cowboy, we will fight being an advanced country.
@rbreich
I won’t forget the blowback over student loans and school lunch deficits when the rich got millions from PPP.
@rbreich and they can’t reconcile their budget
@rbreich All the indications connect to the strings are being pulled by the, 'Military, War Pimp's. Both Trump & Bidden do not give atom of what happens to the Majority of people being pauperized to support 'M.A.D'
@rbreich
What will be the price of Russia and China invading every country they feel like ?
@rbreich because oligarchy needs some place to dump cash that might otherwise be spent on the most threatening thing of all - America becoming a good and happy place - like northern Europe - oh the horror.
@rbreich sssshhhh we have bigger problems. There’s a demonic portal above the White House 🤣

@rbreich and can't account for how they're spending it?

Contrast that with the micromanagement of us poors who want crazy things like health care and safe, affordable housing, etc.

@rbreich especially considering the fact that the defense bill was way more than Biden asked for (as per usual).
@rbreich I think it’s not so much about defense fund but, in fact, rich folks not paying their share of taxes. If everyone was taxed according to their income without filing income taxes as of the end of the year, we would be able to fund social programs. Universal Healthcare should be a given.
@rbreich same crap, different year, month, or day. Universal healthcare for every American.
@rbreich exactly. Just like I can't afford to eat if it isn't prioritized, apparently their priority is military.
@rbreich Virtually every politician from both parties is terrified of being accused of not supporting the military. It’s obscene how much we throw their way with virtually no oversight whatsoever.
And for what? We have this ocean around us and friendly countries to our north and south. Nobody is going to try to invade us.
And it’s been this way my entire life.
Then, as if that’s bad enough, they want to balance the books with social security, which isn’t even an entitlement.
@rbreich Mexico has more federally mandated leave than the US does.
@rbreich Isn't there someone who is fond of saying "Don't tell me what you value, show me your budget and I'll tell you what you value."? 😉
@rbreich It is an evergreen question that no journalist will ask.
@rbreich especially after more banking bailouts now!
