The good news of today? I gained more than a hundred new followers on #Mastodon (welcome!) even while Musk blocked my link to this account on Twitter. So I can grow here without the #TwitterMigration. It feels like independence day😊
What’s your experience?
@Alex_Verbeek I’m still finding it a bit awkward to shift. The rather heavy handed ‘favourite’ seems a bit too much compared to just clicking ‘like’ - or are people just using them as the same thing?
@SeanOSullivan it’s the same but more personal. You show the other person that you liked the post, but it doesn’t impact what you get to see in the future. I remember that Twitter’s likes used to be favorites too
@Alex_Verbeek I find it’s getting better here every day! 😊
@Alex_Verbeek Nice! I am finally trying to teach myself how to use this platform. Welcome.
@Alex_Verbeek it's a lot easier and smoother here than it was in 2016 when I first had an account on .social - also you can import all your following/followers from tw*tter - I used https://digitalcourage.social/@debirdify

@nettlejelly thank you. That sounds like a very useful tool 🙏
@Alex_Verbeek I've a long way to go, to get all the scientists and science communicators i once had on tweeter. I'm never go back to that platform. It's forward or not at all.
@Alex_Verbeek
I find mastodon different and more difficult. It’s not always possible to reblog a post one liked. Or one can’t see the color change because it’s too weak.
I’ll try to migrate to mastodon social.
@Alex_Verbeek I slowly get used to Mastodon. It looks to me as a real alternative for Twitter.
