I expect Musk was going to end up taking down the @[email protected] account at some point anyway. But posting this just gave him an excuse to do it immediately, without having to take a second hit later for changing the rules a second time to prohibit competitor advertising or something else stupid that makes him look bad.

It's like being insubordinate to a boss who is trying to make you quit instead of laying you off: you're just making it easier for the jerk to get what he wants.

@juneussell @mmasnick Sure. But not as bad to as many people as it would have looked if they hadn’t tried to promote an account he had just labeled a threat to his child’s physical safety. They gave Musk the cover to do what he wanted to do anyway.
