Are people mostly using Mastodon through a web browser, or are there apps or tools that folks are using to navigate?
Wow, thanks everyone! This is immensely helpful. I'll experiment with some of these options when I have some time.
@BySteveReilly
Mastadon has an iOS App that’s easy to access.
Post has no App that I know of yet.

@BySteveReilly I'm using the Tusky app for Android.
@BornAgainEmo @BySteveReilly consensus is use Metatext for iPhone and tusky for android ( although Metatext is supposedly not going to be updating any more)
@ewarrenfan @BornAgainEmo @BySteveReilly what’s wrong with the Mastodon app for iPhone?
@BySteveReilly @maxnesterak @BornAgainEmo It works fine, I actually have both and tried both for a while; just like Metatext more. If Mastodon app keeps updating and Metatext doesn’t may switch
@ewarrenfan @BySteveReilly @maxnesterak @BornAgainEmo
A new iOS app — Tusker — is in beta testing. I’ve been giving it a spin. Looks very promising.
@BySteveReilly Browser on my computer (with the Tweetdeck-like advanced view), the regular Mastodon app on my phone but I understand there's other options.
@BySteveReilly Metatext is a great app if you use iPhone
@BySteveReilly There's an official mastodon app, but metatext is a little better to use. I'm on i-devices. Oddly I can't get either app to work on my i-pad, but they're fine on the i-phone #mastodonapp
@BySteveReilly @BethFishReads I’m using Metatext on my iPad right now.
@MWilson @BySteveReilly Thanks -- maybe I'll delete the app and re-install.
@MWilson @BySteveReilly Yes, I started over and now the app works just fine on the ipad. Thanks so much again.
@BySteveReilly its a browser for desktop, but for iOS/Android there are great mobile apps. I look forward to the growth and evolution of the ecosystem, thanks to the ActivityPub protocol and Mastodon instances, that will allow developers to step in.
@BySteveReilly I’m using safari on iPhone
@BySteveReilly I use Tusky on android and the web version on PC.

@BySteveReilly I've been using Pinafore for both desktop and mobile.

It's an alternate, simpler, browser front-end. See pinafore.social.

@BySteveReilly Tusky for Android. Browser for computer.
@BySteveReilly I started to use the Mastodon app although it took a couple of tries to get it to work for me
@BySteveReilly I’m using apps on my phone and laptop. May switch to others over time based on features and performance.
@BySteveReilly I’m on Metatext for iOS, browser on MacOS
@BySteveReilly Metatext on iPhone is terrific for switching between feeds and adding alt text.
@BySteveReilly keep an eye on @ivory, a new Mastodon client in beta right now. It’s looking to be the most polished experience on iOS (and mac eventually)
@BySteveReilly @qwosl I am a big fan of Toot! For iPhone. Really nice interface!
@BySteveReilly using Toot! On iOS mobile. Cost a couple bucks but the interface improvement is worth it
@BySteveReilly Do not use the “official” app. Use Toot!, Metatext or Mastoot. I also use the web browser version
@BySteveReilly I use a nice one called Toot! It’s on at the Apple App Store at least - costs like 4.99 but really clean
@BySteveReilly Mostly web for me, with "advanced web interface" enabled for wide, multi-column display. Plus Tusky on my Pixel, primarily for notifications.
