Here we are on #mastodon and it seems all anybody can talk about is #birdsite and #MelonUsk.
I thought we came here to get away from all that #othersite crap?
This is like scrubbing the kitchen floor then taking a huge, smelly, runny, greasy, smoldering, steaming dump on it.
@ssb Well given this is a related network where people are coming to as birdsite collapses, is it that surprising? It’s dramatic and interesting and a big shift in the dynamic of the internet, and fediverse.
@ssb mini story time:
A couple years ago there was construction at 12 and dequindre and summer traffic backups almost a half mile long were common. We were getting literally like 1-2 accidents a DAY directly behind our house as cars would rear end others in traffic. I live in my backyard during the summer, so we were hearing all that metal and plastic crunching, and we'd run out and help calm people down and make sure they were ok.
@ssb
When we went on vacation to get away from that, we still talked about the accidents that were likely happening in our absence. We were always safe from it, especially 300 miles away. It didn't stop being notable though.
