Welcome journalists. Some quick tips:

Learn how Mastodon is different from Twitter. Spend some time listening.

Be a human being here. This network thrives on genuine interactions, not bluster or headlines.

Respect the spaces you're in: Consider asking permission to quote folks before doing so*, adding CW tags where you see others using them, and always use alt text.

(*I would ask first here personally, unless quoting a public figure like a politician) #FediTips #BloodyThursday #Journalism

@oconnell excellent, thank you. This is not Twitter. Let’s make it more human.
@oconnell also, there's no such thing as quote tweets here. Deal with it.

The Ivory app for Mastodon is excellent. I’ve been beta testing for a few weeks.

We’re trying to slowly increase the number of @ivory TestFlight invites as we add new features so we don’t get deluged by bug reports for things that aren’t finished yet. That being said if you are a journalist and want something to make this feel more like home, hit me up.

@oconnell I am sorry for my ignorance but I have no idea what CW tags are nor what Alt Text is.
Might I respectfully suggest that Mastodon would be more sociable if posters acknowledged that not everyone is in on the jargon and tried to include new users by speaking in plain language?
