@mnutty I would note though that yes, stalking is a crime, just like mass shootings are a crime
So if limiting free speech is the solution to stalking, then...? 🤔
Am I correct in understanding that you believe tracking the movement of #Musk’s jet is a form of stalking?
To my way of thinking that is not the same thing as #doxing which I understand as the revelation of private information to a large audience.
I guess stalking can be a requirement to gather private information which can in turn be used for doxing?
@mnutty No, I don't think it's a form of stalking. Especially when it's public information.
Just highlighting the hypocrisy of right wing Musk supporters who agree with limiting free speech as a means to prevent stalking, while not wanting to limit guns as a means to prevent mass shootings.
Certainly seems to lack ideological coherence.
So I guess we’re getting down to real issue at play which is a question surrounding the ethics of broadcasting.
Is there a case to be made for NOT broadcasting a truth to diminish the likelihood of a negative outcome?
@mnutty I personally believe so. Broadcasting troop movements, for example, would seem inappropriate.
The risk of harm greatly outweighs the public's right to know, IMO
