@tprophet holy shiiiii... This is so ethically void. Absolute bottom-feeder capitalism. Especially considering the *size* of the operation.
@tprophet that is some hot garbage. Can they like, sue or something?

@Bamfurlough @tprophet IANAL, but the relevant doctrine is "promissory estoppel".

Suing for damages is plausible. Might be expensive, and nobody is likely to get what they deserve.

@seanb @Bamfurlough I mean, in theory, sure. In reality, "sue a giant corporation who has unlimited time and unlimited resources" is rarely a winning strategy. The law effectively doesn't apply to billionaires and corporations.
@tprophet @Bamfurlough 100%. That's the failure mode I was understating.
@tprophet I also had a rescinded offer from a big tech company, just before my start date. At least I wasn't relocating. But it was still very disruptive.
@tprophet I don't know what kind of spree I'd be on after something like this but I can promise it wouldn't be a "shopping spree." I hope they make it their personal mission to share this story very very wide.
