The expanded Child Tax Credit cut child poverty by nearly half.

Manchin and the GOP let it expire and child poverty spiked by 41%.

In other words, an additional 3.7 million children were thrown into poverty.

Reinstating it is a moral imperative. Do it during the lame duck.

@rbreich
Getting a tax credit, then losing it, should not be an option. Its kids we're talking about.
@rbreich why do millionaires get to decide if children should eat?
@JohnLoader6 Pretty messed up considering all the food we have!
@rbreich I believe there isn't much incentive or will to tackle any big issues before the new Congress is sworn in. I hope I'm proven wrong.
@rbreich homeowner tax credit was great. I bought into a co-op for some stability, and pay WAY more in taxes since Trump got rid of it.
@rbreich this credit is discriminatory. Why is there no tax credit for non-breeders? #overpopulation
@rbreich
Dang, Butt Munchin strikes again.
@rbreich
The House should be passing bills through for the next Senate right now like an accountant on crack.
@rbreich how can Joe Manchin, in that poor state, vote against this and still get reelected?

So much for the Prolife refrain for the repugs.
@rbreich It's really distressing how one can pick the worst, most antisocial policy, predict the Republicans will go for it and, generally, one will be correct.
@rbreich The same folks are against abortion, right?

@rbreich Robert Reich is now on Mastodon. Welcome toy least favorite economist!

(Seriously, I do welcome you. You're a serious person whom I almost never agree with.).
