About nine years ago, I registered to officiate the Seattle wedding of two of my dearest friends, two amazing, brilliant women—in the summer sun, with their friends and family. And we need to do so much more, but I am so relieved for the Respect for Marriage Act--that their choices, their commitments are still protected. Marriage is sacred and beautiful and sometimes hard—and an essential, essential human choice and right. #respectformarriage #love
@madelineostrander What a beautiful thing to do for your friends! I was in #Nashville, #Tennessee, when #Obergefell was announced. Went to the local courthouse, where the #progressive then-mayor Megan Barry showed up to perform #weddings for the joyous couples who had arrived to tie knots. Watched a few dozen ceremonies, cried more than a little, then headed downtown for a celebration that featured a #gay choir that sang with such purity. Just a splendid day. Here's to being allies for #love.
@NatalieDavis ♥️ Thanks for sharing that lovely memory.
