@RollingStone Yes that's disturbing. Also the FBI did a study like ten years back finding that white supremacists were *systematically* joining police departments. (Not telling the depts they were racists.) I think we've seen some of those cops at work in Portland Oregon and elsewhere. Most of these dept of Homeland Security jobs were very low level but even so it's scary.

@RollingStone We have a massive problem with law enforcement in this country. The U.S. spends more on law enforcement than all other countries do on their militaries except China & the U.S. & what did Biden & the Dems do?
Increase spending on law enforcement, who in turn donate huge to the GOP it’s like they want to lose

As an analyst covering domestic violent #extremist threats for the NYPD, I distinctly remember being told to be careful in how I represented #militia groups like the #oathkeepers because some uniformed personnel I worked with were likely members and leadership didn’t want to ruffle feathers. One of those professional #wtf moments I won’t forget.

@RollingStone I thought the whole point of Oathkeepers was to recruit law enforcement and government employees. I remember reading about it at the beginning and that's what they were doing. I knew they would eventually be a problem then because right wing religious groups don't purposely recruit LEO's for funsies.

@RollingStone Consider that DHS includes Immigration/Border Protection etc. Treatment of people crossing or attempting to cross southern border is often cruel and not justified by either their actions or the demands of law. Some agents seem to delight in cruelty. So, not surprised at all.

@RollingStone This scares me a lot. People with ideologies like the Oath Keepers seem to be lost in the past. They think America is slipping through their fingers because other people are enjoying the same freedoms they've had for such a long time. Another group built on the idea of victimhood which justifies their violent actions.

@RollingStone we've all known this since it was formed- DHS was a desperate scramble that failed. ditch DHS and fully restructure the project of US domestic security.
