I'm coming around to the idea that #onlinecommunities based around a shared #identity can be great tools for exchanging information and coordinating the distribution of resources and in-person meetups in general but it's a terrible idea to use them as a primary #social space. 1/4

@autogynamelia i'm not sure it's valid to extend your personal experience as universal. online spaces centered around marginalized identities can and have been extremely useful spaces for those people to socialize. it depends on whether the culture of that space allows forming genuine connections with people. and sometimes it doesn't. but it sounds like you haven't experienced the kind of space where it does
