@DStan58 this is near Grand Marais, Minnesota. It's about five minutes from my house. I'm pretty lucky to live here.
@bryanhansel Indeed. Closest I've been is Lutsen. Years ago, I coached the ski team at Indianhead. Lutsen is quite dramatic, right there on the Lake's edge.
@DStan58 xc ski or downhill? The xc skiing is near world-class here. There are over 400km of groomed xc skiing within 30 minutes of my house.
@bryanhansel I was an alpine coach. But I did ski a fair number of kms, too. I raced bikes, and I'd much rather Nordic ski than ride the trainer in the basement in the winter.
@DStan58 gotcha. Lutsen is fun to downhill. I've gone once or twice, but I got spoiled in the west so I just xc ski now.
