Making the move from Twitter over to Post/Mastodon/Substack is a great way to reveal who your REAL friends and followers are. And I think speak for many Twitter migrators when I say: wow I guess it’s just a tiny fraction of you 🤣

(Seriously though, thanks for sticking around!)

@Davechen it feels to me like an early adopter thing. We’ve just got to start to build enough of an audience here that it becomes more enticing. My family and friends are staying over there because it’s where pop culture and sports conversations happen in real time. I hope we can get that going here
@Davechen people don’t like change

@Davechen i've been a big fan since the Quiggles-days of the Filmcast and really enjoyed all your various other ventures.

i don't think twitter's going anywhere soon but i'm hoping that something out there can recreate what made it an interesting place to be online.

@Davechen to be fair it probably took years to build up that following on Twitter. I just happily deleted all my tweets this morning. I suggest everyone do the same. I continue to browse, but will never tweet/reply as long as Musk is in charge.
@Davechen your wanting to migrate away from Twitter comes as no surprise to me and only makes me a bigger fan of your work, on a related note Dave did you see this: https://twitter.com/johnonolan/status/1602330377812643850

Twitter

@Davechen 😢 I do worry about this.

I’ve ovegeneralized in saying that Mastodon can eat a lot of peer-to-peer subcommunity Twitter usage, while leaving “event-based” conversation to Twitter.

But that’s obviously a false binary and 1:N “creator”-type broadcasting is also hugely important.

@Davechen we have been scattered to the four winds, Dave! Momentum will build in the right place and everything will be well in the end. Even if it’s just boring market forces, rather than some profound will of cosmic righteousness. Twitter will consume itself and we’ll go on.
@Davechen If your twitter still exists you can use tools like https://www.movetodon.org/ and https://fedifinder.glitch.me/ to find out which of your follow* have mastodon accounts and follow them here.
