MILAN has approved a £200 million plan to create a new 750km network of bike paths linking 80% of the city to bike paths, & connect the city to surrounding areas. The goal is to achieve a 20% modal shift to biking by 2035.
Strategy & leadership.

@BrentToderian I want #London to do this but the #Tories won't let us. They resent Life itself I think.....
@BrentToderian love this. Would be nice if cities added bike lanes when building new roads as well
@BrentToderian where does the map comes from. It's too low def to be readable :(
@BrentToderian I hope they are at least investigating #V2X mobility safety solutions along the lines of Spoke Safety
@BrentToderian like we have in our towns. Nice.

By the way, @BrentToderian Edmonton recently voted on a $100 million package for cycling network expansions just for 2023-2026 alone.

Edmonton city council has approved another $100 million for improving and expanding cycling infrastructure across the city. Very happy about this 👏 #edmonton #cycling https://globalnews.ca/news/9338993/edmonton-city-council-100-million-bike-lanes/

@BrentToderian That's an odd strategy. In San Francisco, the city set a goal to achieve 20% mode share for bikes by 2020 (this was years ago), then sat back and didn't change a thing. Why would they? They already had a catchy slogan: "Twenty by twenty!" (Mode share didn't budge and 2020 came and went.) 🤨
@BrentToderian Looks great and looks like it was designed by a spider!
@BrentToderian Looks like Amsterdam's canals :)
@BrentToderian Hallo Herr #Wissing, es ist zwar nicht direkt ihr Aufgabengebiet aber es könnte die dringend notwendige Horizonterweiterung für sie sein.

@BrentToderian many ordinary milanese absolutely hate the traffic and problems caused by the new bike lanes.
Milanese residents have lost many parking places, which were replaced by the bike lanes.

Transition ≠ pulling the rug under the ordinary citizen’s chair.

If we want Green to be easily accepted then we can’t simply brutally impose impediments on the population.

@BrentToderian

It's safe isn't it? Cycling is still too dangerous

@BrentToderian This is really inspiring . Interested in how could achieve greater control /regulation of car users as well to enhance shift to cycling. We need greater protection for cyclists in uk as our libertarian govt seems to assume that any shift will happen by magic rather than providing the necessary investment in the same. There is an inconsistent appproach which means active travel Is often undermined by MPs despite it being allegedly government policy.
