Another part of it is that they go so fast I can't even read one before it falls off the page. (I'm on the desktop browser at the moment)
I figure if I limit the sources, I can read things.

You can stop the scrolling by going to
Preferences>Appearance>Slow mode
or
place your mouse pointer on the column and use your mouse wheel to scroll down a little (or lots), that will stop the auto-scrolling.
