Looking at the Scottish #Winter #Snow photos on social media today as I sip an iced coffee in the shade makes me very glad I listened to the inner voice last Spring, sold my house, got rid of my stuff, and moved to Thailand. Cost of electricity and mains water last month? About £11. Admittedly I spent a week at #2Son's house but even so...
Comparing Thailand to UK, housing costs are low - I'm renting a rather lovely 4 bed, 3 bath, house with a small garden, fully furnished and equipped, for a smidge over £600 a month. No council tax. VAT is 7%. Petrol is about 80p a litre.

It's the oldest mu baan in Bangkok. Unlike British housing estates, it has plenty of shops, schools, cafes, restaurants, recreational facilities, manicurists, hairdressers, masseuses, one scarcely needs to leave...
@andrewzcooper I try not to think about the awfulness elsewhere. I just can't cope with it, I'm afraid, and it was wearing me down. Being off Tw*tter has been a tonic, too. I don't have time for it anyway as am nearly a full time granny ...
