Years late, but yes. Medical, officers were /are a perfect pool of corruption and criminal negligence causing death .Most should be in jail . at the very least and Premiers in the stockade .The word is democide Exceptions PEI & Nfld

@PBruce @DiverDoc My opinion is that Canada has an immature relationship with their provincial medical officers, and the positions had never been tested before now. The positions are by Ministerial appointment in some cases. I'd like to see Medical Officers be independent and report to the legislature, not a Minister.

Agree. As I understand it in most cases the Minister may fire them but their position is created & empowered by legislation, while having the authourity & affirmative duty to issue whatever health directives they deem appropriate. But , arms length with some immunity seems the least required, based on recent experience/interference /failures

@PBruce @DiverDoc Yes, as Canadians, we understand why the Provincial Auditors, the Child Advocates, or the Privacy Commissioners need to be independent, but I think we had this erroneous idea that a physician didn't need to be independent from a government.
