Hmm. A president attempts a coup to dissolve the Congress and seize power. That same day he’s arrested. That’s how they handle such criminality in Peru.

@StevenBeschloss

I think we probably taught Peru how NOT to handle the situation...
We need to get our stuff together. We need to decide, once and for all, are we a nation of laws or are we not. Is NO ONE above the law or is that just BS to keep the "little people" in line?
We should look to Peru and follow it's example.

@Mikaredd30 @StevenBeschloss
America is a dysfunctional Federal government — by design.

Only Texas tops the Founder’s handiwork … by limiting the Texas Legislators days in session to 90 days per 2 year cycle (or similar).

@StevenBeschloss
You can't hold a banana republic like the USA to that high a standard.
@StevenBeschloss you left out preemptive raid and arrests of insurrectionists in Germany. I don't even think we qualify as a third world country. If the FBI and DOJ were a patient, they'd fail their physical, we'd find they have no reflexes.

@StevenBeschloss
Andrew Jackson simply threatened to hang any governors who attempted to secede from the Union.

That worked, too. For a while.

@StevenBeschloss Sometimes we seem more concerned with optics than reality.
@StevenBeschloss Would be nice if the US congress showed this level of integrity right?
@StevenBeschloss Yeah, but we in The USA are more “civilized” than they are? I think not. tRUmp should be indicted, arrested, tried, and if found guilty then imprisoned.
@StevenBeschloss
It goes back to the founders secretly wanting a king, just not the same one for life.
@StevenBeschloss and it should of been handled like that here
@StevenBeschloss Granted, Peru has had a long history to learn from their past mistakes. US has repeatedly proven its stubborn blindness to the success of policy in other countries eg universal healthcare, restriction of widespread gun ownership, etc
@StevenBeschloss What’s taking so long for us to arrest Trump and throw him in jail for attempting to overthrow the government.
@StevenBeschloss Yes, notice how much attention that has received in the U.S. What is wrong with our media?
