Wait until all the right-wing activists trying to ban books from school libraries to protect children from "inappropriate" content find out about the internet

@juddlegum here in Oklahoma we have law makers with bills ready to put a movie/TV style rating system on books in school libraries.

@chrispeters @juddlegum kids will naturally want to read the books with the most restrictive ratings
@joyographic yep. I grew up evangelical. As soon as I left my parents house I began seeking out mature rated movies. But this isn’t about keeping kids from reading certain content it’s to make a system that allows bigots to target groups they hate.
@chrispeters My father forbade me to read just one book ("The Monkey Wrench Gang" by Edward Abbey). Of course I snuck it from the shelves and read it when he wasn't around, putting it back before he got home until I had finished it. Later I became an environmental activist...
@joyographic my dad didn’t read books. My mom kind of read the Bible and other Christian self help books. Therefore I didn’t read books outside of ones required in school. My first book I read front to back as a 19-20 year old was the Hobbit then LoTR.
