@steveumstead @tuckerteague @JenWojcik Yep, I had 12k there, with very little interaction. I got the mutuals only from mass-following tons of accounts on a daily basis for several months, but it was all empty connections. I screwed up my experience there. Looking for a better start here.

I can guarantee it wasn't you. That's what their algorithms do. Create empty experiences as a way to fill empty space. I grew up with use net, IRC, etc. The corporate experience, while interesting, was an experiment. That's over now, yet the real internet persists. This is what it was always supposed to be. :)

Fresh start. Don't look back. :)

@JenWojcik @steveumstead @tuckerteague You are absolutely right! This feels more organic, like how the Internet used to feel. Like webrings and chatrooms and geocities!. Twitter used to feel like this in the very beginning. Smaller connections with people of common interests. I'm loving it! (Plus I'm a nerd and I created a server just to see if I could and now I feel like I own tiny portion of the #Fediverse). #NerdsForTheWin #GladToBeHere

YEP! YEP! YEP!

I was on Twitter from 2008. Exactly.
