A far too unexamined truth:

Historically, being an abolitionist hasn’t meant NOT being a white suprematist

One can believe that slavery was “wrong” AND still NOT see slaves as their “equal”

Any narrative that excludes this TRUTH is misleading at best and false at worst

@KimCrayton1 there were abolitionists who straight up owned slaves, the fucking hypocrites. dollop did a four part series on aaron burr and it was really hard to get over their praise of him relative to alexander hamilton when he was an abolitionist WHO OWNED PEOPLE.
@KimCrayton1 yep. Very important to note that many anti-slavery people were still racist.

@KimCrayton1 Hmmm...good point.

I suppose that's very similar to men who see themselves as "knights in shining armor" who must protect women from the insults of others.

@KimCrayton1 The fact that being anti slavery did not automatically mean NOT being anti-black was made abundantly clear in the these two excellent audio books https://amzn.to/3UBXGhW and https://amzn.to/3F13H1O
@KimCrayton1 These two books are actually a substantial part of the reason for my blog post "Is The US Headed Towards #CivilWar2 ". (https://bit.ly/CivilWar2CosoCall)
These books made me realize nothing gets White people more geared up for all out waring stronger than being mad at THEIR FELLOW WHITE PEOPLE. #politics #books
