This list of journalists on Mastodon is getting pretty long — over 1100 listed. This is a floor, who knows how many more in media are not listed. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13No4yxY-oFrN8PigC2jBWXreFCHWwVRTftwP6HcREtA/htmlview
Journalists on Mastodon and Fediverse (Responses) - Google Drive

@mshelton We've got more than that on journa.host alone. It's great to see the range of journalists signing up: big publications, small publications, all kinds of beats.
@tprice504 journa.host takes a both sides stance on transphobic hate speech.
@supermoon That’s absolutely not true. Our rules clearly state that we do not allow that.
@tprice504 Regardless of your rules we have seen journa.host mods demonstrate that it is an unsafe space by banning trans people for defending their right to exist. If they have made any effort to be better, I can’t find anything about it. It’s probably what I will associate that instance with forever.
@supermoon That's simply not true. One of our moderators had this conversation this conversation with Parker Molloy that address some of that and other topics. https://www.readtpa.com/p/a-conversation-between-the-present?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email#footnote-1
A Conversation Between The Present Age's Parker Molloy and journa.host's Adam Davidson

Watch now (67 min) | A video post! I chatted with Adam Davidson about journalism and coverage of LGBTQ issues.

The Present Age
@mshelton Is there a mastodon CSV file or list that includes all of those?
@mshelton Wow…lots of work here. Whoever put this list together is very admirable. Thank you!
@mshelton We've got a little over 2,500 accounts. Journa.host accepts working journalists, journalism professors and retired journalists. Journalists for us includes photographers, audience people, visual journalist, etc. etc. Basically, anyone who would fall on the editorial side of a newspaper (or the equivalent -- I'm a newspaper guy, so I think in those terms). We also have a handful of brand accounts, which are mainly small newsrooms, non-profit newsrooms.

@mshelton And to be clear, we're not in a competition to have the most journalists on our server. The more servers, the better. And we hope to develop some manuals to help other journalists set up servers. Maybe photographer or sports writers would prefer their own place.

I also suspect that six months from now they'll be so many journalists (and other people) on Mastodon that will laugh about 1,000 or 2,000 journalists seeming like a lot. (At least, I hope so. I like it here.)

@mshelton it’s reassuring to know that there are that many journalists interested in getting their messages out
@mshelton @donmelton ability to filter by country would be nice now the list is big
@mshelton I know look at the list I follow.
@mshelton thanks. It’s helpful.

@mshelton Remember this?

Later in the year Trump would come out in favor of sneak attacks.

"Tuesday, October 12, 2016 Donald Trump complained Sunday that the Obama administration announces in advance when and where it will attack the Islamic State, giving the enemy an advantage it shouldn’t have.

"“Why can’t they do the attack? Make it a sneak attack, and after the attack is made, inform the American public that we’ve knocked out the leaders, we’ve had a tremendous success.”"

@mshelton Amacing, but... by using Google Docs, Google knows who is interested in this list of journalists...
